Once upon a time a nimrod lived in a village with his spouse and a tiny baby.He was an enthusiast for the hunt.To help him in the hunting,he tamed a robust canine. The canine was very faithful and obsequious to his master.             . One day the nimrod and his wife had to visit the city on some important errand. They left the baby in the charge of the pet dog and departed for the city.
The baby was slumbering comfortably on a cot.The canine plonked down on the floor with watchful eyes. After about an hour,a sly wolf sneaked into the house. The sight of the baby tempted the wolf to chomp on his soft flesh. He was about to attack the baby when the dog sprang up and pounced upon him. Both the animals had a bloody fight and both got badly battered. The dog ,anyhow, killed the wolf.He sat at the door of the house. His mouth was blobbed with the blood of the wolf.
When the nimrod returned,he saw the blood on the mouth of the canine. He feared that the dog killed the baby.In a fit of rage,he hit the dog ruthlessly with a sharp weapon. The poor canine let out a yowl of pain and gave up the ghost.
On entering,he saw his child smugly napping and a wolf was lying dead on the earth. The reality dawned on him that the dog saved his child by killing the wolf and in return,he was a bloody chump to kill the saver of his child, his dear dog.He burst into tears and cried and cried but it was of no use.

Once upon a time there was a king.He had an army of gallant soldiers.A Trooper in his army was very brave and courageous.By dint of his valour,he fetched many victories to the king.He was very popular in the entire kingdom.
This trooper had a horse. He loved his horse very much and vice-versa.
One day the soldiers were dressing their horses. The Trooper, while massaging his horse, noticed that one of the nails of the horse's shoe had fallen off.It required immediate mending. But as the Trooper was dead tired and fatigued,he decided to attend to it later.Though his companions advised him to fix the nail, yet he did not pay heed to their advice.
During night as they were slumbering,a loud echo of the drum rent the sky. There was a cacophony
of voices. The enemy had launched a massive attack on the king's palace. All the soldiers were summoned to fight the enemy tooth and nail.
The Trooper mounted his horse. The horse moved a few steps forward but as his shoe was loose,he stumbled and the Trooper flumped down.He was severely bruised and could not get up .The enemy dashed to him and pierced his chest with a sword. He died.
The procrastination on his part cost his life.

The king of the beast, the ferocious lion, with the passage of time, grew old and lost much of his vigour and vitality. He could no longer jump like a spring upon his prey.He could only gloat over his thunderous howls in terrifying the animals.
Once, while basking in the sunshine,he saw a young jackal trudging with ease at a stone's throw. He let out a blood-curdling roar.A thrill of horror shimmied down the spine of the jackal and he skedaddled away instantaneously. The lion felt giddy pleasure in frightening the jackal.
Days rolled by. One day the lion again saw the jackal. He howled as loudly as he could .But to his utter dismay, the jackal tarried for a moment and glanced timidly at the lion but did not scoot away.
The third time, spotting the jackal, the lion roared with the greatest ferocity at his command. But the jackal ,neither tarried nor raced away with fear.He ogled contemptuously at the lion and continued walking .

Once upon a time a reynard inhabited a jungle. He was there as comfortable as a pea in a pod and delightfully passing his days. But as the ill luck would have it,he could not get even a morsel of chow for the last couple of days  to satiate his hunger. He searched every nook and cranny of his surrounding to get something, but alas!all his efforts proved a wild goose chase.Frustrated and famished to the hilt,he sauntered to the edge of the forest to search for vittles.
There he noticed a larch with a hole in its trunk.A packet inside the hole was visible from outside. Thinking that there must be some viands in the packet, the reynard leapt into the hole.Rummaging through the contents of the package,he found to his utter delight, bread, meat and fruits. He gleefully started chomping on the scrumptious nosh.
A woodcutter had kept the packet there to eat it after finishing his work. The fox after devouring the stuff to his heart's content, felt athirst. To quaff aqua,he wiggled his body to come out of the hole. But he could not come out as the consumption of oodles of food had made his body turgid and the hole was not large enough to allow his turgid physique to pass through it.Poor fox got stuck there in the hole .

Once there was a carpenter who was very skilled and hard worker. He was bald.As he was always busy and ran short of time in fulfilling the orders, employed a chap to run errands for him and extend a helping hand to him in his job.
One day he was engrossed in carving some furniture when a mosquito fluttering above perched itself on his scalp and stung him.As his hands were holding tools,he asked the chap to drive it away. The chap drove it away by waving his hand.
After few seconds, the silly mosquito again landed on the carpenter's skull. The chap again drove it away. This act was repeated six times.
Now the chap was quite irritated and livid with anger at the audacity of the tiny creature. He resolved to kill the mosquito if it dared to plonk on his master's bald head again. The fluttering mosquito again deposited itself on the glittering head of the carpenter.
Gurgling with ire,the chap took an axe and dealt a severe blow to the scalp of the carpenter in order to kill it.The mosquito flew away but the deadly blow cleft the carpenter head in two parts. He flumped down and died instantaneously.

One day Pappu accosted his father with the question,"Dad,what is poverty?Who is a penurious?"
His father took him to a village. They spent sometime on the farm of a poor peasant.Pappu chatted with the villagers, saw their habitats, their way of living, their possessions and their modus-operandi.
In the evening, while vamoosing, father asked Pappu,"What did you learn,my child ? Pappu responded:
" We have one dog, they have a pair of oxen.
We buy our foods, they grow theirs.
We have light at night, they have galaxy of stars.
We have pools,they have rivers.
We have walls to protect us,they have friends.
We have encyclopedias, they have religious books."
"Thank Dad,for showing me we are real penurious."
       Father was nonplussed.

"Miss Goat,You are looking as beautiful as a peacock.I wish to befriend you.please come down here. The grass here is greener and longer."
The sagacious goat baaed,"Look Mr. Wolf,I am not gullible to be gulled by your trick. The grass there may be better but the moment I climb down, you will,in the twinkling of an eye pounce upon me to gormandize me.I am much better here. You can't reach me.I am safe here.Be off,you rascal!"

Once there was a vagabond mongrel who was as gluttonous as a pig.One day he pilfered a large slice of  mutton from a butcher's shop.He skedaddled with the booty to a safe place.Arriving at the bank of a stream,he tarried there for a while to rest.He was about to chomp on the nosh when he saw the reflection of his image in the clear water of the stream.
He mistook it to be another dog with a larger chunk of meat tucked in his mouth. He was tempted to have that piece also.So in a bid to snatch that piece,he,without weighing pros and cons of the situation, plunged into the water and opened his mouth to yank the meat from the other dog.As a result, his piece flumped down into the water and sank to the bottom. The avaricious dog lost his own booty.

THE LION AND THE CRICETIDAE

                                               [JAI MA KALI]
          THE LION AND THE CRICETIDAE
       XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Once upon a time, the king of the jungle, the mighty lion after lunching scrumptious flesh of a stag, was enjoying his afternoon zizz under the shade of a larch. It so happened that a cricetidae(mouse) emerged from nowhere. It started skipping and leaping over the paunch of the lion, sending the precious siesta of the lion to the limbo! The lion woke up and burbled with ferocious ire at the audacity of the tiny creature. He caught hold of the mouse and was about to throttle it when the mouse blubbered imploringly:
"Your Majesty, have pity.I did it out of sheer ignorance. Please condone my faux pas.I may be of some help to you some day."
The compassionate lion felt pity and set the mouse free with a warning.
Some days rolled by.One day some nimrods spread the net to trap a prey.Unfortunately the lion got entrapped in the net.He tried with full ferocity at his command to break the ropes of the net.But all his efforts proved abortive. So in sheer desperation he let out a thunderous yelp of pain and anguish.
The echo of the lion's roar pierced through the ears of the cricetidae. He instantaneously leapt out of his hole and skedaddled forth to the site. With his canine like teeth,he tore to tatters the ropes of the net.The lion was free. He thanked the mouse profusely and rewarded him with a big slice of stag's flesh to nimble .

PRESENCE OF MIND

                                            [JAI MA KALI]
                PRESENCE OF MIND
               $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Once a cosset along with his hurtle was grazing in a pasture. He considered himself a grown up sheep and capable enough to take care of and fend for himself. When the dusk dawned, his mom summoned him to return to habitat with the meinie.Being cocky and obstreperous,he paid no heed and continued to nibble merrily the scrumptious viands. When he was chock-a-block,he lifted his head and saw that the parcel was already gone.
He was left alone. The Sun was sinking and the darkness was spreading. He panicked. The thought of the monstrous Wolf that had gormandized a number of his pals, gave goose-pimples to him.Bleating for his mum,he started wildly over the field Hardly he had covered half way,he saw the wolf with blood-shot eyes standing over a clod.
A thrill of horror shimmied down his spine. He was in imminent danger of losing his life. But he had a great presence of mind.Mustering enough courage, he baaed cajolingly to the wolf:
"Your Majesty,it is as sure as egg in eggs that within a few minutes,I would be in your gut. Please fulfill my last wish prior to my death.Pipe me a merry tune as I long to jitterbug for the last time."
The wolf consented. He struck up a melodious tune and the cosset leaped and frisked gaily. The hurtle was trudging slowly homeward. The evening wind carried the echo of the tune within the earshot of the shepherd dogs. They smelt a rat and about-turned to race to the pasture.Seeing the dogs, the wolf skedaddled away with the dogs at his heels.
While running to safety, the wolf cursed himself for being a nincompoop for turning piper to please a lambkin when he should have stuck to his butcher's trade.
